Rev. Lloyd G. Phipps, Sr., accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in May 1980. He was baptized in water, filled with the Holy Ghost in August of that same year and became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Prospect, Port Antonio, in the Parish of Portland, Jamaica West Indies. Rev. Phipps served his local Church as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Pastor, Small Group Leader, Church of Prophecy Marker Association (CPMA) Director, Evangelism Director and Interim Pastor. He also served the Parish of Portland as Evangelism Director, CPMA Director, Publication’s Booster and Zone Coordinator.
Ordained as a minister in 1982, Rev. Phipps traveled the island of Jamaica conducting revivals, preaching in Parish conventions, national conventions and other national events. He accepted his first pastorate, at 20 years old when he was sent to pastor the Fruitful Vale Church of God of Prophecy. The following year the Mount Pleasant church was added to his responsibility.
On August 9th 1986 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Althea M. Passley. He later migrated to the United States in 1988 and attended the local Church located at 85 E. 165th Street, Bronx, New York. There he served and assisted Bishop Earl W. Mc Kay, Senior Pastor and District Overseer. In 1995 Rev. Phipps was appointed Interim Pastor for the church at 1243 Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn, New York and was promoted to Senior Pastor the following year.
In 2002 Rev. Phipps relocated to Acworth, Georgia where he currently resides with his wife Althea and son Lloyd, Jr. Until his appointment to the Covington Drive Decatur Church, he served the Marietta Church as Associate Pastor, Men’s Ministries Director and Small Group Coordinator. Rev. Phipps also serve as District Overseer, State Men’s Ministry Director and on the State Leadership Development Committee (CBL).
